A1 Roper Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of foundry ladles and other equipment for the safe handling of molten metals. At our Keighley manufacturing facility we produce a range of top quality foundry plant using the very best materials and the most advanced production techniques.
As well as a complete range of foundry ladles with capacities of up to 65 tonnes, A1 Roper offers a selection of associated foundry equipment such as ladle heaters, moulding boxes, hot metal receivers, barrel and drum handlers, monorail systems and gearboxes. All of our products can be found on the A1 Roper website.
A1 Roper is one of the UK’s leading foundry equipment suppliers and has an industry-wide reputation for product quality and service excellence. Our ladles are relied upon for the safe and reliable handling of molten metals in modern foundries throughout the country.
In addition to our standard foundry equipment, we offer a bespoke design and manufacturing service for clients who require custom solutions. This is facilitated by our extensive machining and fabrication plant in Keighley where we are able to carry out a number of manufacturing processes – not just for the production of foundry equipment but for any subcontract requirements.

Moulding boxes are manufactured in all types and sizes (for hand and machine moulding, no bake, lost foam process and automated high pressure moulding systems). Sizes can vary from 200 to 6000mm square by 75 to 1000mm deep.
We offer a range of special purpose boxes designed for use in moulding systems where the demands of high pressure moulding and the need for high production rates necessitate a box that is designed and machined to the most exacting tolerances. Boxes are fabricated from unique steel channel sections designed for both rigidity and sand retention.

A1 Roper offers two barrel/drum handling devices for the safe handling of molten metals. Both models (500kg and 1500kg) feature double steel adjustable banding hoops that lock the barrel into a secure position between heavy gauge suspension arms. The lifting yoke can carried by a crane hook or with a fork lift truck (1500kg model only).
Both barrel handlers are fitted with good quality rigid gearboxes to ensure long and continuous service in tough operating conditions.
We offer a complete range of gearboxes to complement our line of foundry handling equipment. Oil bath worm and wormwheel gearboxes are available in a range of sizes and come with various options, including:
Gearboxes are available to handle loads of up to 35 tonnes.
To give you complete peace of mind, A1 Roper offers a full range of spares and provides comprehensive repair and refurbishment services (including reload testing).
Ladles and ladle hoists used within the foundry come under the categories of ‘load bearing’ and ‘lifting equipment’ in the Health and Safety Regulations and must therefore be assessed for risk and appropriately serviced on a regular basis. A1 Roper engineers are fully qualified to carry out such assessments and to maintain the equipment as required. Our services include:
Repaired ladles are returned with a test certificate, maintenance instructions and a parts list.
At our facility in Keighley, West Yorkshire, we have a range of fabrication tools and CNC machines that enable us to provide a number of subcontract services, including:
These facilities allow us to produce bespoke foundry equipment according to customer specifications. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements with a member of our design team.
