As leading rotational moulders, we have both the
technical expertise and plant to offer a complete design-to-manufacture service
for most large products in plastic.
If it can be
rotationally moulded, we can make it.
Design
Rotational moulding is used for producing hollow
plastic items, allowing higher quality and more intricate designs to be
produced. No external pressure is applied during forming, because the
heating, melting, shaping and cooling stages all occur after the polymer is
placed in the mould.
The advantages include:
- Low Tooling Costs
- Production Runs Less Than 100
- Economical Prototyping
- Stress Free Moulds
- Hollow Shapes Moulded Without Seams, Sprues Or Injection Marks
- Screw Heads, Bosses And Metal Inserts Can Be Moulded In
- Ideal For Flexible Mouldings
- Mouldings For High And Low Temperature Environments
- Symmetrical And Asymmetrical Mouldings
- Textured Mouldings
- Engineering Polymers For High Strength And Minimum Weight
- Undercuts

THE PROCESS
Rotamoulding is a 4-stage process:
- Thermoplastic powder is placed inside a cold mould,
closed and moved into an oven chamber.
- The mould is heated to 230 - 400°C and starts to rotate simultaneously around the vertical and horizontal axes.
- Still rotating, the mould moves round into the cooling chamber to be cooled by air or water jets.
- The hollow moulding can be removed as soon as it can hold its shape.
About Oakland Plastics
Starting as rotational moulders in 1990, we
quickly gained an enviable reputation as a leading supplier of mortar tubs for
the construction industry. With our factory conveniently located in the Midlands
providing quick access to the M6 and M42, we can offer a speedy nation-wide delivery service.
Rotamoulding has grown into one of the fastest moving sectors of polymer forming in Europe.
New materials, process control and growing awareness of the market value of good design are
combine to move rotamoulding from the early days of doll's heads to the high specification products
