Cerro EMS Limited is the largest manufacturer of commercial non - ferrous forgings in the UK.
With manufacturing sites in Walsall and
Birmingham, we have easy access to the main transport networks for delivery in the UK, Europe and other
markets worldwide. Export sales continue to be a strong share of our business.
Technical Facility
From concept to completion Cerro EMS can offer technical assistance every step of the way.
Using Computer Aided Engineering systems we can quickly evaluate customer needs.
We have the ability to receive most types of electronic files, including SAT, STEP, IGES, Inventor Part, Autocad DXF/DWG, Mastercam Files.
Once agreed we can send a model of their part in a self extracting viewable file, which can be viewed in a solid format and from any angle.
During the design process our experienced engineers may offer advice on design alterations that may lead to cost or efficiency improvements.
Once a design is agreed we will produce dies in-house using modern die making facilities.
We are currently using Autodesk Inventor for CAD, which is then complimented with Mastercam for the in-house machining of dies.
We now manufacture all our die tooling using our CAD/CAM system, which connects directly from our engineering department into the dedicated toolroom die making machine.
Cerro EMS has BSI and Lloyds approval under BS EN ISO 9002.
Products - Conventional
Having the ability to hot forge pieces from a few grammes to 5 kilos relies on Cerro EMS having a variety of forging equipment.
Dependant on the complexity of the part and the quantity requested, Cerro EMS will probably have the forging press for the
job; presses range from 100t to 1800t.
Included in our portfolio is our latest Hydromec press which can forge parts at a rate of 2000 forging strokes per hour, and with the possibility of producing 4 parts per stroke.
Additionally there are a variety of automated and semi-automated forging presses.
These accommodate the higher volume products required. Other presses available include crank, vice and friction presses for the smaller volume parts.
Our presses are capable of forging aluminium, copper, brass and variants of all three.
Of course one of the big advantages of forging aluminium and brass is that the forgings do not suffer from porosity.
Products - Hatebur
For brass components from 10-50mm dia (or a/f), that are symmetrical or asymmetrical then the Hatebur hotforming process is ideal.
Using bar stock the Hatebur Hotmatic forges and
pierces (if required), in one multi-stage pass, at up to 10,000 pieces per hour.
The speed of this process assists with quality as the time taken to complete the forming cycle allows no measurable heat loss.
