Safe Lamp Disposal Service

Recycling lamps is environmentally preferable to sending them to landfill, although it is more costly. The need to
comply with European & UK Health and Safety environmental legislation is likely to push up the cost of landfill making recycling a more attractive long-term option. Now that recycling is available most reputable waste service providers will no longer accept fluorescent tubes or mercury and sodium filled lamps for landfill.
Using Swedish technology that is authorised and licenced by the Environmental Agency, the tube's component parts are separated and the mercurial powder is distilled to produce 99.98% pure mercury. The glass, metals and mercury are all reused in other industries.
As the mercury from one flourescent tudoe can pollute 30,000 litres of water beyond a safe level for drinking, there are strong environmental reasons for recycling.
